Work Restarts on Bedlington Town Centre Scheme


Advance Northumberland is pleased to confirm that work has now recommenced on the Bedlington Town Centre scheme.

Work had restarted on the regeneration of the Market place, which includes a new terrace of shop units and apartments above. Following the contractor SURGO entering administration, Advance Northumberland has appointed the contract to Meldrum Construction Services Ltd and work will recommence on site from Tuesday 7th May.

The former retail units fronting the Market place were demolished to make way for four new modern retail units, Gregg’s was the first retailer to sign up to the new retail terrace, work on this phase is now due to complete in early Spring 2025.

The upper floor of the retail units are designed to provide six new apartments to rent in a mixture of one and two bedrooms and will be available for rental from Advance Northumberland Homes.

Once work recommences on site, the foundations will be completed and the steel frames which are already fabricated for the project installed.
