Wansbeck Square

Advance Northumberland is project managing the Wansbeck Square regeneration, with significant progress already underway. The demolition contractor for the existing buildings at Wansbeck Square is set to be appointed soon, with demolition works scheduled to begin this autumn and expected to conclude by early 2025. 

A planning submission for the new build works will be submitted in the coming weeks, with construction anticipated to start in Spring 2025. 

Additionally, the process of operator procurement is currently in progress, ensuring that the project moves forward efficiently and on schedule.

Portland Park 

Advance Northumberland is leading on the transformation of Portland Park in Ashington.

• The Leisure Centre opened in 2018, which included a 6 lane Pool, Gym, Sports Hall and Library
• The 20,000 sq. ft. Home Bargains unit is open and is proving popular
• Completed Portland Park will include a new six screen cinema, two restaurant units, and associated landscaping, and car parking.

Portland Park Cinema Development: Update

There has been a public consultation in July 2024, exclusively focused on the proposal for the Portland Park Cinema development.
