Advance Northumberland have project managed the design and build of the Energy Central Learning Hub, in close proximity to the Port of Blyth.

Work started in February 2023 with an extensive enabling works project to demolish buildings, clear the site and to divert and install new services and drainage.

The main contract works commenced in May 2023 with Galiford Try. The 106, 8 m deep 350mm diameter augered piled foundations were driven in June 2023 and nearly 200 tonnes of steel was erected during July 2023.

A 50KW Solar PV array have been installed on the roof to drive sustainability in the building. This will be accessible for students to view as part of their studies

Now open to education providers industry specialists and students, the first phase of the Energy Central Learning Hub is complete. The finishing works for the conference suite are on track to complete in late 2024 and the final phase to complete in early 2025.
