Ascent Homes launch construction site safety campaign at Ellington Primary School
Ascent Homes went back to school as part of an initiative to engage pupils around building site safety.
Ascent Homes visited Ellington Primary School to involve the Year Five pupils in topics that include building site safety, sustainable drainage systems and water safety as well as the roles undertaken by staff on site.
Ellington Year Five, then visited the Ascent Homes construction site at Wayside Point, to view work activities, on an active building site from start to finish.
Andrew Brooks, Advance Northumberland’s Group Health, Safety & Environmental Manager said, "It was an enjoyable session with all the children contributing. There were lots of questions and the pupils enjoyed the hazard spotting exercises the most. The site visit was well received with experience of wearing personal protective equipment, observing the telehandler operate and looking around the show home facility on Wayside Point being top on their feedback.
“It looks like we will have some future construction workers in the making. I am looking forward to building the relationship with Ellington Primary School and collaborating with other schools near our Ascent Homes construction sites in the new academic year."
The visit to Wayside Point, was also supported by Joe Riddell, Senior Site Manager, and the Ascent Homes construction Team whose contribution helped make the visit successful.
Ascent Homes has recently announced that due to significant demand at its Ellington development, 116 new homes will be added to complement the existing new builds. The fourth and final phase of Wayside Point in Ellington is now underway meaning there will be a total of 328 new two, three and four-bedroom homes located on the site along with more green, communal spaces.
