Bespoke boutique expands fashion collection during lockdown

A bespoke clothing boutique in Ashington, Northumberland has diversified their range of women’s clothing from occasion wear to lockdown loungewear.

MySBoutique is the brainchild of Shona Brown who set up her family run clothing boutique based in Ashington, Northumberland, offering a range of occasion wear and fascinators all for under £50.

Shona started the company in 2016 after leaving her career in corporate property sales due to ill health. After losing almost four stone in a short period of time Shona found it difficult to find the right sizing and good quality clothing when shopping online. Seeing a gap in the market, this is when Shona’s hunt for quality manufacturers in the UK began.

MySBoutique originally started in Shona’s garage in Ashington where she lives. Her first collection of occasion wear went down a storm and she began shipping internationally within weeks, gaining a huge social media following the business expanded rapidly.

Shortly after Shona took on a team of four to help her and moved into a large unit at Green Lane, Ashington, owned by Advance Northumberland. It was the perfect spot for the local community and surrounding town to access the shop and the only boutique in the region offering a walk in service.

As the pandemic hit it became clear that no one needed fascinators or formal wear at this time so Shona quickly adapted and diversified their line working tirelessly to adapt their range to suit the customer’s needs. They now stock collections from casual wear to comfy summer essentials and even stylish face coverings.

They have been promoting their collection on social media with hashtags like #FrockitFriday and #ClassyIsolation for customers to dress up at home and take part in zoom racing events.

With robust measures in place they have been able to reopen their showroom based in Green Lane which was closed due to Covid-19. They have made changes in store to enable customers to try on garments safely along with strict processes to their hat fitting service.

MySBoutique now also offer a click and collect service for their customers when purchasing before 3pm the same day, as well as their new online, buy now pay later option with Klarna.

The business is going from strength to strength with new ranges like gym wear, shapewear and even a new skincare line soon to be introduced.

Shona Brown, Owner of MySBoutique, said “Although the pandemic has been hard on the company it’s allowed us to expand into new collections and help grow the business. The team at Advance Northumberland have been really supportive throughout and we look forward to expanding our premises in the future with them along with our ever expanding collection.”

”Christine Cothill, Commercial Manager at Advance Northumberland, said “We’re delighted to have Shona and the team at our unit in Green Lane, her showroom is looking fantastic and it really helps showcase what can be done with our unit space.”

With a portfolio of around 164,000 sqm of space, Advance Northumberland provides business space throughout Northumberland, including industrial workshop and warehouse units, office buildings, suites, business parks and managed workspace.
